Registration
It costs just £19.50 to register with Streetvan. When you register you get:
- Your very own Streetvan smartcard
- Fully comprehensive insurance
- A highly-trained support team available 365 days a year
- 24/7/365 breakdown and recovery service
Annual re-registration is £19.50.
Usage Rates for 2010
Mileage
30 miles free per day, then 23p per mile
To get you going we include 30 miles of free petrol for every day your booking touches.
After that, mileage plus petrol is charged at 23p per mile. Because you only pay
for the miles you use, you can fill up your Streetvan whenever you want with the
fuel card provided. At the end of your trip the van's computer will let us know
how far you've been.
Go as far as you want
As long as you bring the van back in good condition, we don't mind where you go
with your Streetvan. But for insurance purposes, if you'd like to take it abroad
do let us know beforehand.
Reducing your insurance excess
Fully comprehensive insurance included, excess can be reduced from £9.95 per month
Like most van insurance, ours has an excess. The standard excess is £1,000, and this may be reduced to zero at a cost of £19.95 per month, or to £250 at a cost of £14.95.
You can also reduce this excess on a per-trip basis for £14.50 per day.
No London Congestion Charge
Streetcar pays your London Congestion Charges on all bookings.
Despite their environmental benefits, Streetcars are not currently exempt from the Charge.
However, Streetcar will absorb all Congestion Charges accrued during your booking.
Inexperienced driver charge
For drivers aged 24 or under: 9p per mile
Inexperienced drivers are involved in more accidents than experienced drivers.
Reflecting this higher risk of car damage, for members aged 24 or under there is a charge of 9p per mile.
Members with a proven driving history are exempted:
- 2 years of No Claims Bonus from your previous insurer (we will ask you to provide the insurer's certificate).

20 trips in a Streetcar without causing any damage.
The charge is applied to all miles driven in a trip, and will appear as a separate transaction line on your account. For example, for a trip of 40 miles, there would be an Inexperienced Driver Charge of £3.60 (and a charge of £2.30 for the petrol: 30 miles free, then 10 miles charged at 23 pence).
